"Encouraging messages for the entrepreneurial spirit"
I recall as a little girl, my girlfriends and I sitting on the stoop of my front porch discussing our grown-up dreams. One shouted, when I grow up, I'm going to be a doctor, another would excitedly interrupt and I’m going to be an actress. Our visions of where we wanted life to take us were as diverse as our pig tails. We've all changed from that time to now, obviously we are all grown women but for the most part our dreams remain just that... dreams.
There is a nouveau cliché that states, "Life Happens" and we've all heard the expression, que sera, sera, whatever will be, will be". Those catch phrases hold some truth but there is something to be said about "making it happen!" Sure, you didn't plan on that divorce, or unexpected pregnancy, illness etc... No doubt we all have experienced some type of adversity in our lives, but whatever we've experienced makes us who we are today so consider it seasoning. However, it is unfortunate that we've allowed the "spices in our lives" to cripple or stifle our visions. We provide a multitude of reasons as to why we can't do something, who is standing in our way, or simply admit or deny the real culprit is fear. The fact of the matter is sometimes we self-mutilate our goals.
One of my favorite verses in the bible reads this way," Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us...” Eph. 3:20-21. This verse is so encouraging, did you catch the operative word, "power" and even more so inspiring that-- works in us! With this empowerment, we must rise above the negative self talk, procrastination and indecision and find venues to make our dreams realities.
Personally, I've made some modifications to my dream, no longer wanting to be the next Barbara Walters as Oprah has raised that bar. But I have made strides regarding my dream of becoming a professional writer, what you are reading today is evidence of that. While I haven't quite arrived, I've found the courage to "press on". I want to be all that I am purposed to be, don't you?
Are you hiding behind your past afraid of looking to the future? Are you blaming someone for you not being able to make your dream happen? Are you afraid of failing? If so, let me encourage you to get off your stoop or your best intentions, get over whatever it is you need to get over and make it happen!
Remember God has not given any us the spirit of fear, but of power, and of love and of a sound mind. Success is yours for the asking! I don't mean to sound harsh or insensitive. I am neither - but sometimes we need a little kick start., here's yours!
